Virtual Student Docent Talks
Please join the Mandeville Gallery for our winter Virtual Student Docent Talk!

Our current work study students will discuss and interpret the artwork and themes in the current Mandeville exhibition, Chitra Ganesh: “Sultana’s Dream” featuring a series of 27 linocuts illustrating Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain’s 1905 sci-fi story that reimagined early 20th century Indian life through a feminist lens.

Student docents will offer insight about their interpretations of the exhibition, as it relates to their own research, interests, and personal experiences as students of Union College. The following students will be presenting: Maymunah Ahmed (‘23), Ryan Hayes (‘23), Adenike Hickson (‘22), Mallory Nelson (‘22), and Samuel Perry (‘23).

A 3D Virtual Tour of the exhibition was created by Mandeville Gallery student docent, Mallory Nelson (Class of 2022), in consultation with the Mandeville Gallery and Schaffer Library. The tour is available at the following url: https://digitalcollections.union.edu/s/union-college-permanent-collection/page/3D-virtual-tour-chitra-ganesh

This event is free and open to the public.

Gallery Hours: Open daily 9 am to 5 pm for on-campus members of the Union College community – current faculty, staff, and students only - via the basement door with id card access.
